Over here has what versions of pro and tools you need to be looking for. http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=proftpd

There's a good list of ftp tools here http://www.ubuntugeek.com/list-of-ftp-clients-available-in-ubuntu-linux.html

I use Filezilla, as it does, simply, everything I need :-)
