Hi

A friend of mine has bought a used computer with ubuntu 9.04 installed.

I want to make a clean install of 9.10, but we have two problems.

I only have it on a usb stick, and the computer doesn't suppor booting from usb, and second, we do not have the root password for the computer.

Dropping down to single boot via grub, I hoped to configure grub to boot from the USB, but grub cannot see the usb.

Can I somehow boot the usb from within ubuntu? Other options?

Hi,

There are some options available to you, the 1st one to try is this --> https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromUSBStick#Cannot%20Boot%20the%20Computer%20From %20USB?
