Hi I'm a brand new linux user just made the jump on my machine tonight. Unfortunately I've run into a snag. I just did a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10 and everything seems to be fine except i have a vertical red line on the left hand side of my screen. I'm assuming this is a driver issue and I have done some searching and attempted various fixes including trying Envy (http://albertomilone.com/envyngfaq.html#A).

I have verified that it is not a resolution issue by trying every available resolution, but I still have the red vertical line. I've checked the monitor cables and even tried a second one but that yielded no difference. Anything I could try would be helpful at this point! Thank you all so much in advance.

Edit:
I have since tried using a different system hooked up to the same monitor with the same cable and did not have the issue. The plot thickens...
