Hi,

I wonder if anyone can advise how to edit grub so that it picks up on Vista installed on a seperate drive. Having tried 9.10 on my laptop I thought it would be just as easy with the desktop, but loads of issues came up.

I installed ubuntu 9.10 initially with the vista drive connected and it installed the grub loader on the SECOND hard disk(I think) with the Vista OS, even though the first disk is where linux was installed, so I did it again this time with the vista HDD disconnected and it worked for Ubuntu but does not pick up on the option to select Vista at boot/grub menu. I know this has something to do with the MBR and grub but a lot of searching has not found an answer.

Most of the forum advice relates to installing the two OS's alongside each other on the same HDD under separate partitions.

Any advice welcome.

Thanks crazy dave,
