Which do you use/prefer and why?

I like that TweetDeck has Facebook enabled but I like the user interface and simplicity of Spaz much more.

I like Twitter much better then Facebook overall but find more people on Facebook.

For now I will use Spaz primarily for Twitter and TweetDeck primarily for Facebook.

Try Spaz (http://getspaz.com/)

i rather just use the website.

i have used a facebook prism before and thought it was alright, but it was just firefox without the url bar and other settings, and thought it was kinda pointless.

Most people have heard of TweetDeck it is the most used desktop application for Twitter (can also use Facebook and MySpace with it)...Spaz seems like it would be more popular from the Linux/Open Source crowd since it can be used with identi.ca and laconica.

Spaz Statement of Purpose:

This is something I’ve been thinking about and working on for a few weeks now. I wanted to post it here both to understand my motivation, and to hear feedback.

Spaz was built for the sake of building it. It is not a means to an end. However, creating it has had several good consequences.

Spaz demonstrates that making things is good, and sharing how you make them is better.

Spaz is a necessary counter to closed, hidden technologies. Spaz must always be open.

The value of Spaz does not lie in the judgements of others, but in the process of building it, and the enjoyment derived by those who use it.

We welcome anyone who wishes to participate in the Spaz Project with open arms, as long as they understand and respect the purposes of the project.

The Spaz project values clear and open communication between participants.http://funkatron.com/site/comments/the-spaz-project-statement-of-purpose/

(And if they have anything to do with twitter, I probably never will. Life is too short.)

I just checked out tweetdeck It's ok but I don't like the layout. All those columns irritate me, I would much rather have my updates in one window.

I like yoono's (http://yoono.com/) desktop app, but they don't have a linux version. I have however ran the windows version in wine. They also have a browser version, but it seems to crash my browser.

For now I just use choqok for twitter & identi.ca.

If you say.I do like it, but I am just testing it out currently against TweetDeck...the nice thing about TweetDeck is you can use Facebook on it also. The other choice is just to use your web browser, but then you can't hide the browser in your background and have notifications come up while your working else where.

The reason I didn't try it was because I already have Choqok for twitter & identi.ca, I was looking for a linux desktop app which works with Facebook, Myspace & Possibly picasa and/or Flicker.

TweetDeck is nice because you can also post to Facebook with it, but I honestly don't care much for Facebook overall.

When using Facebook it is almost essential to use Facebook via their website, but with Twitter/identi.ca it is not so necessary to use a web browser. Spaz just makes more sense to use for Twitter/identi.ca.

I did find a way to post on Facebook via Twitter using Spaz...just follow the instructions posted here to sync your twitter updates to post on Facebook:

http://www.ajvaynerchuk.com/how-to-link-twitter-to-facebook-a-twitter-tutorial/

Then you can just use Spaz to simultaneously post to Twitter and Facebook.

I am not a user or fan of myspace or flickr so I am not sure how to help there.

"Gimp" anyone?

Regardless, the usage of "spaz" as an epithet towards those with cerebral palsy was common in the 1980s UK, but wasn't common outside of that area, and it is even less common now. I certainly didn't intend it as such when I chose the name, and I believe that common usage on Twitter and beyond doesn't intend that either. I do monitor people posting about "spaz," and while it gets used a lot (which makes finding the posts about my app a bit of a pain), I've never seen it used as anything more than a playful jab.

My use of "spaz" is very much a reference to Twitter and other microblogging services' tendency to inundate one with information, and how that can make us a bit ADD. It's also in reference to the nerdy, geeky, "spazzy" characters of 1980s US teenage comedies like Meatballs (which has a character named "Spaz"). I'm proud to be quite nerdy, geeky, and somewhat hyper myself.

It is also nice to have the actual developer of the aplication post a response in this thread.

Just remember that you can sync your Twitter to post to Facebook through Spaz. I find TweetDeck a bit too bloated for my taste.

Spaz is beautiful in it's simplicity in function and delivery, I am sure if anybody wanted to help the Spaz developer Funkatron above he would welcome the help to code to include Facebook in this application and a Android application would be nice also. :p

I have used gwibber in the past, however it still doesn't support myspace as well. in fact the only thing I know I can use and access to both facebook & myspace is Yoono.

Also I'm having issues with loading gwibber under kubuntu 9.10
