Hi,

I have a thinkpad 240 that hasn't been used for long time and I'd like to give it a second life with XUbuntu.
I have read many threads regarding the installation of Ubuntu on TP240, but I have yet to see a success story and I'm wondering if anyone came up with a good solution.

My system is THinkpad240(2609-21J) with 128MB memory and 6GB HDD. I have a USB CDROM drive that OS doesn't boot from, and a bootable floppy drive.
I'm going to make it single boot with Ubuntu so that initiating the installer from FAT partition is not an option.

So far, I tried SmartBootManager, which obviously failed to recognize USB CDROM drive. Also thinking to install Ubuntu to the hard disk hosted by other machines and move it back to TP240, but this could be really painful if mother boards are different and I would like to avoid it.

I'd appreciate if you share your thought.

Thanks
