9.10 Install partitioner

I was running 9.04 and downloaded 9.10 and burned to disk. From experience i usually would not use the upgrade method but when I used the disk the partitioner would not read my drive. I could read it with the 9.04 disk though. I thought that maybe it was a bad burn but I re-burned the image and still the same problem. I use nvidia and the last time I upgraded it was a nightmare. This time I uninstalled nvidia and reinstalled after the upgrades. All was well this time but just confused why it would not read my disk! Anyone have any ideas?

At a guess, once upon a time there was some kind of firmware RAID configuration on the disk, which lingered. 9.10 is a lot more aggressive about using dmraid drivers.
