It doesnt matter if you are using Android or not. We gain from everyone's opinions.
The questions are about possible features we are able to do but want to begin doing the most popular ones :P So your input is important.

I am terribly sorry for the questions, as the google doc somehow froze all my involvement in it and denied me doing any more changes... so here you go:

http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?hl=en&formkey=dFA4VjREVERzdWw5cWk5aVR0UjlDWFE6MA (http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?hl=en&formkey=dFA4VjREVERzdWw5cWk5aVR0UjlDWFE6MA)

I cannot see how the poll can be traced back to you nor how it could possibly affect you in anything but a good way. I can post results when this thread sinks to the bottom of the pile, but please ask for the results.. as I am a lazy person.. and also it bumps the thread:)

There is an active development going on so user experience changes from day to day.
The source is open and you are able to pm me if you want the url for the svn.

Here are some screenshots and two screengrabs from the virtual machine from few days ago (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/955154/out.newest.ogv) and today (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/955154/out-3.ogv).

Looks like a cool app Bölvağur.
I have an Android phone and would consider using it. Though I don't know how much I like the "friends can see your current location" function, or at least one should easily be able to turn it off. :)

you are up way too late.. go to sleep ^_^

yeah, it's going to be awesome app :)
Just wondering if it would be more awesome if I start with linking it to social sites like twitter and facebook, so you can post what you are doing + a map of the location.... and how that is not good for people that is paranoid.
Or if I should start forcing local pubs to post if they are having some amazing happening going on... and then remove them from the map and portend they do not exist if they abuse it.

Your right - Im off to bed in sec!
Actually you should do the same! :)

Im looking forward to test it, will it be in the app marked or manuel download?
Personally I don't use Twitter and Facebook that much, but I would guess lots of people would love that feature!

The paranoid thing.. Imagine when this app gets world domination? How would one cheat on his girlfriend? Bölvağur don't do this to us!!

Looking forward to try it out :)

Will just be on manual download to begin with until it has enough features to be interesting for the user. Then I guess I could buy a slot in the Android market for it if it makes it easier for people to download it.

The idea of location based time sensitive searching is quite neat. E.g. if I was to go to see my specialist who happens to work in the other end of my country it might be nice to hit up on the phone to see where there are Linux meetings or beer tastings nearby and get directions to go there (bonus points for hooking up to a service such as rejseplanen.dk and let me buy tickets directly).

You might even want to do a budget function, tell the app that I and my friend Bob are here, we are willing to spend maybe 20$ each tonight including transport. What offers are near us that match our interests.

*edit*

Note anything that mercilessly spits out my location especially without opt out would scare me. Even if it was time delayed or location approximated (I was around here somewhere 15-30 mins ago). I want location awareness to serve me, public meetings should publish locations but people should opt in to always doing this or doing this per friend per incident. It's a security and privacy matter. I don't feel safe nor comfortable with the idea that everyone knows where I (or at least my phone) is at any given moment.

hmm... after some thought that could be doable actually, but perhaps demanding for the user, as cost of a ticket for certain groups of people might be cheaper than other groups. But I see no problem except getting the info on those events and how much a pint of beer costs ;)

Hmm I wonder if I start flaming kde and saying most mass murderers use windows... perhaps then people would start participating in the poll.
Im not really getting any reliable data on this, from the data I got so far you all like different things.. so everything is equal... which is not helping in finding what the project should focus on next.

:D :KS
Just 10 more participants and I got statistically relevant data :p

Apparently I have to make sure that the user doesn't get spied on, and have some anti-stalker functions.
And probably by default I could have it that you dont broadcast your location, only by command. And have it be able to toggle on and off "auto tracking".
