Ok;

Here is my problem. It is hard to describe.

This is not the first time I have installed linux but it is the first time that I have used an x86-64 operating system. Previous installations go smoothly so I am sure of the problem. I have tried it in VirtualBox but unfortunately, it fails with "this kernel requires x86-64 CPU but detected an i686 CPU." and I cannot bothered to get VMware.

On the "real" installation, everything goes correctly during the selection of the language. When I select the install or the "try now" options, the screen goes black for a while then shows a Ubuntu logo. After that, I see many lines of errors/messages which I can't be bothered to read because they go so fast. It is then I get the problems.

My LCD screen shows random diagonal coloured lines although (not much) evenly spaced across the screen and my CRT shows clustered vertical lines of really random colour - as it has zoomed in extremely close on the coloured pixels on an LCD screen. Nothing happens after that.

Here is a screenshot of my components on CPU-Z.

Could it be my Graphics Card. I am going to get a new one soon.
I do not really mind if I use a 32 bit version. It is just that I want to try a 64 bit version because I have never tried.

Any help?
