the backup function (under files) in Evolution seemed to work OK: it created a file and put it where I told it too. However, I can't figure out the restore function. It asks me to select an evolution backup file to restore, but when I click on the file I created with the backup settings function, it says its not a valid evolution backup file. What am I doing wrong here?

My son had the same problem and it seems it had to do with the fact that he stored the backup file in a directory called "evolution backup". According to a thread in Suse forums, http://forums.opensuse.org/applications/425760-evolution-11-2-backup-restore-problem.html, Evolution can not handle a directory with a space in its name. My son is up and running now. http://ubuntuforums.org/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

I have the same problem.
Try to restore and it says its an invalid backup file.

I made sure there are no spaces anywhere in the path but that doesnt help either.

Anyone?
