Hi All,

I am currently trying to install ubuntu on my old desktop. While trying to boot from the live cd it shows a grey screen with two options "boot loader" and "live-install" but I am not able to change my selection.

whenever I press enter the screen just dissapears without any notification.
anyone knows what this means?

Hi and could you give us some system specs like memory, graphics card and so on. Have you checked the MD5SUM if you burned the cd. * HowToMD5SUM (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM)

Not too sure how to determine this, in my bios it just says Intel 4.
Is there a way to find this out with the following premise:

I am not able to boot from the live cd (which is the reason for me writing)
I have grub installed
jaunty jackalope is installed, but during boot I keep getting a kernel panic

I am using an official Ubuntu 9.04 desktop edition install cd (which I used to install ubuntu on 2 other computers with no problem)
