custom kernel help needed for laptop

need help with compiling a custom kernel for a very specific computer and i want to strip down all unnecisary components of the kernel (using the menuconfig libcurses6 etc method. the problem im having is idk what half this stuff is. even after going to the part that explains it. the computer is an acer aspire 7720 and if you need, i can post all the hardware. any good places that explain what all these random things are? in an easy way? been googling, but it seems nothing has hit the nail on the head.

this should be for 9.10 32 bit
