Was worried after reading all the problems with 9.10 installs, but decided to put it on an older desktop I have. I was impressed, only had to load one driver for my usb network adaptor and everything works. Connected to my laptop (ubuntu 9.04 shares and the Windows network at home without any problems)
I am running a AMD Semperon 2.0 with 1 gig of memory, Nvidia g6200 card) (even got compiz working right away-see attached thumbnail)
Just wanted to add my opinion. I installed it on the laptop in using Virtual Box and had no problems either. One complaint I have is the stock icons suck.
Functionality is good and that is what does it for me.

Great to hear. I to hand no problems on three laptops.... except for some skype mic issues.
