Hi. Recentkly I plugged my ATI HD3870 into a HDMI cable (TV) and the resolution changed to 1920*1080.

I returned to my computer desk and plugged my pc back into my 22" monitor. The monitor has a top resolution of 1680*1050 and the screen resolution still seems to be 1920*1080 (it overlaps the screen and I can't see most of it). I then tried to change the resolution using the ATI control center, after receiving the message "Changes will take effect after a restart" I restarted and still no change in the resolution.

I then upgraded to the latest ATI drivers and tried the same things with no effect...

I then upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10 and still the screen does not fit.

back in the old days I was able to change the xorg.conf file to suit my needs and resolution. These options have been removed correct? So there is no way to manually edit the resolutions?

It seems stuck on the higher res. Any idea's?
