firefox 3.5.x bookmarks

I have new system 9.10 AMD64 with KDE and noticed that I can't add or import any bookamrks. Adding new one don't work at all and when trying to import bookmarks saved before firefox craches every time. I'm trying to import bookmarks.html created in 3.0.13 version on windows.

How to enable this feature? And how to import my old list of bookmarks ?
I see the only solution with editing the file bookmarks.html in my local directory but maybe it s better one.

I'm sorry but I don't get it, what actually are you referring to ?

I have the backup but cannot import it into Firefox, it crashes on every try. Maybe the reason of that is the origin of the backup, it have been created in Firefix 3.0.13 on Windows machine.

And how about the provoleges. Is it possible that after update everything has been assigned to root or something. When I go to Organize Bookmarks there is nothing there.
That would explain that I can't add or change any existing bookmark. And import the backup as well.
