I've been running 8.04 Heron on my Dell Latitude laptop (I was using 9.10 Jaunty but it was too heavy for the laptop).

Some of the 8.04 functions have been corrupted. I have the OS on a CD. Is there any way to repair the OS without destroying my work files?

Edhawk,

There are no guarantees as we don't know how detailed/dependent the repair would be. Best to move those work files someplace safe/out of the internal HD ..... verify that they are work-able .... and then proceed to repair your install.
