UPDATE 2005-02-07
=============

Sorry for the delay, I've been very busy with university work. However, I found some time to create some new wallpapers. I hope you like them. I've also attached the source bender file so you can create your own versions.

Enjoy.

All images are high res 1280 x 960 PNG's

\/ Original Post \/

It's late, 2:43am, and I have to go to sleep but before I do I wanted to post these images I've been working on. I was searching for some wallpapers to go with the human theme but I found none I liked, therefore, I decided to make some. I also need practice with Blender, the result is two wallpapers.

I know they're not the greatest but I was focusing on the model not the textures. If I have time tomorrow I'll render some more. In addition, I'll make the Blender source files available for others to make their own incarnations.

Enjoy.

Blender is hard, but really fun. Here's some tutorials:

Hi,
again good job! Would it be possible to have larger native images? I have a 1400*1024 screen and enlarging your nice images really decrease their apperance!

Regards,
MC

Thank you all for your kind feedback. I've got to go into University today to work on my final year project, however, when I get back I'll post some more renders, this time with more effective textures.

Some people mentioned alternative colours. What kind of colours are you interesting in? Also, I will render the wallpapers at a higher resolution and let you downsize if required.

If anyone is interesting in learning Blender, you'll want to check out the official manual (http://www.blender.org/modules/documentation/htmlI/book1.html) .

They look great, good job! Have you thought about saving them in .png format for better quality?

It's nice to see someone else uses Blender!
everyone just buys 3d studio max or lightwave, blah.

As always I'm a bit late to the party, but I wanted to say very nice! I especially like the second image.

Any chance of you posting the Blender files so we can modify/re-render to different resolutions (and maybe render with YAFRAY)?

P.S. Who BUYS 3dsmax, Maya, or Lightwave? I don't think I've seen a legal copy in my life, except at an educational institution. I imagine companies do, but I don't know a single person that has. Perhaps if it weren't so easy to pirate them Blender would get more attention as well.

The first post (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=59720&postcount=1) has been updated with new wallpapers and the source blender file.

Because you can only post four images, I had to miss one off; so here it is.

I just found a page in the wiki with the official logo colour pallet. I wish I had discovered this earlier. Oh well. I'll update the Blender file in the near future.

If anyone has any suggestions for additional wallpapers, please post them here. I'll try my best to create them.

Very nice. I like blender, but I still don't quite know fully how to use it. I tried making a glass Ubuntu a while ago and couldn't get the shadow to look right at all.
Very good, these are impressive, much better than anything I'm doing.

Could you render one in 1680*1050? I not that good with blender I'm afraid.

You gave me some inspiration, couldn't get your file to load with MAX so I had to make my own.

Cheers

change the x/y sizes under the format panel and hit f12, then when its finished hit f3 to save the image ;)
