I was checking out the GP2X Wiz and according to ThinkGeek (http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics/retro-gaming/bfc7/) the 533MHZ ARM9 processor can be overclocked to 800MHz.
Is overclocking a handheld gaming system really a good idea? When you overclock a computer you can compensate for it by adding a better heatsink. But when you overclock a processor by 66% in a small plastic case with almost no air flow isn't that going to drastically shorten the lifespan due to increased heat output?
Or do they only set the default clock speed at 66% less than what it's capable of handling because they figure it's adequate for what most people are going to be using it for and any more would negatively effect battery life to the extent most people would rather live with the a slower clock speed and benefit from the increased battery life that goes along with it?
