I just added ppa:ubuntu-boot to my software sources. After launching update manager I see that there is an "update" to kernel 2.6.31-14. I am currently running kernel 2.6.31-15(Ubuntu 9.10). My question is, is there a need to downgrade to this kernel to get the full benefits (faster boot) of the ureadahead upgrade?
hope this makes sense.

Is 2.6.31-15 the latest stable kernal or just the beta/rc version?

It was found in the main repository but it has apparently only reached the proposed level so it would seem this is not a stable kernel.

So with that being said, I would not upgrade my system to a kernal that is not considered stable version.

Thanks for the response. I guess my question was "is kernel 2.6.31-15 compatible with the ureadahead2 package?" The answer appears to be yes as my system has not crashed or locked up yet, and is utilizing ureadahead2 and kernel 2.6.31-15.
I really appreciate your help and in fact all the help I have got from this forum.
Many thanks to all who help out.
