Hi All.

I have a machine that will not start Gnome. I have looked all over the internet for a sollution and not one thing works. Im fed up. Can someone please help before i throw this OS out for good.

History. Installed 9.10 on a brand new server and got it running, mistakenly elected to use latest nvidia drivers till i realised that they kill the VNC.

Told ubuntu to not use the nividia driver assuming it would be smart enough to pick a substitute.

Next boot resulted in dropping to a terminal. No Gnome.

Yes ive tried doing dpgk-reconfigure xserver-xorgand it doesnt work (because apparently it no longer does in 9.10 - but no one seems to know what does.)

Ive tried to reinstall Gnome, but it wont let me.

Ive tried kicking it. Felt better but still no desktop.

I want clear, concise instructions or questions.

Looking forward to an answer...
