Hello. I am upgrading to 9.10 and was notified that among the packages no longer supported (and will be suggested for removal after the upgrade) is python-usb. I will install it manually (as it is a package I use extensively) but I wanted to let everyone else who may be interested in libusb and python-usb know.

Does anyone know if there will be support for python-usb in the future? I don't really understand the politics behind policies for stopping support for a package. Is python-usb not supported because the authors of the package lost interest? Or did they not meet a deadline? The community is active and the python bindings to libusb are helpful and used by several devices and applications. libusb (not the python bindings) are widely used by many applications, including gPhoto
