Safari is not loading through wine. I have no Idea what I did wrong. I followed a tutorial to do it, and it all went smooth. However, when I click the icon nothing happens.

Why run Safari at all? Why not just run Firefox, Epiphany, Opera, Seamonkey, Conkeror, etc?

If you're going to use Wine, you need to check out the CodeWeavers Application Compatibility site for the apps you're using.

The link below is to a page about Safari. A Bronze rating is quite poor -- only a notch above Garbage. So, I'm not surprised you're having problems with it.

You can find out what folks have done by reading the test links:

Yeah, why on earth would you want to run Safari at all, let alone under wine?

In linux, my favorite browser is Google Chrome. Like Safari, it's fast and it is based on WebKit (most other open source browsers, like firefox, are based on Gecko).

You can download a Chrome-for-linux installer (.deb file) here:
http://dev.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel

It's considered alpha software but I have experienced very few bugs. Far, far better than what you'd expect for an app running in Wine with a "bronze" rating.

Give the Chrome user interface a chance. It's different, but you can learn to like it if you don't already.

Thanks for all the input Ubunites. I just wanted to see if I could do it. I got Chromium up and crackin', so, I'm not hurtin' for a browser right now. Also, for some weird reason I'm just over Firefox. Maybe it's tooooo customizable for me. I find myself spending hours just dressing it up, and not even surfin' da web! No biggie. Thanks for the input again.

Are you seriously using Chrome on Wine? Doesn't seem worth it to me.

No, I'm using Chromium straight up, no chaser.
