From the The Register (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/10/26/dell_linux_windows_ubuntu/): Dell lists Ubuntu 8.04 as a Microsoft product.

Old news, but it's still pretty strange...

Maybe they're trying to convince Windows users to go to Ubuntu? :/

The thing that really ticks me off is my Dell Mini 10v that came without Windows, without any stupid stickers or 'genuine' junk, still has a super key with the Windows symbol on it.

I need to scratch it off and put something over it. Poor little angel. It was a virgin PC with only free software, but they put the mark of the beast on its fragile keyboard.

THOSE MONSTERS!!!

XD But yeah, they really should find some more ways to make Ubuntu appealing on their own website, not just the low prices. And in their distribution of Ubuntu, too.

You mean on the keyboard? All keyboards out there have that goofy windows logo on them.

Well minus this one here (http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/keyboards-mice/9836/). ;)

As long as it's Genuine Microsoft Ubuntu™ I don't mind.

Mine has an Ubuntu key in place of a Windows key, but I don't think I use it for anything. I prefer CTRL or CTRL+SHIFT shortcuts.

Wrong (and wrong, even if you don't include the mac keyboards). Supporting products with windows logos on keyboards means supporting the microsoft monoculture. There are plenty of keyboards without windows logos on the mod5/SUPER key.

indeed!
On top of having "Dell Recommends Microsoft Windows" all over the place when customizing an Ubuntu machine.

My EeePC has a little picture of a house on its Super key.

Dunno why though... I press it and it doesn't take me home...

A little deviation from this thread but check out the price of a Windows 7 starter pack on the Studio 1555 config page...I don't remember the exact date...the screenshot is perfectly genuine....and 1$=Rs.50

Got a link to some? I found a cherry keyboard without a windows key and the blank keyboard.

My keyboard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model_M_keyboard) doesn't have a Windows logo, and it's a damned pleasure to type on.

I think of the windows key on my keyboard as the eye of sauron, i never look at it directly and always hide from it.

Looks great for school aged kids learning to type. I should get one because I never bothered to learn proper typing and still look at the KB when typing.

Virginity is a state of mind; you can reclaim it. I have a little sticker over the super key.

My Happy Hacking Lite 2 keyboards don't have a Windows logo either - they use a diamond shape.

http://pfuca-store.stores.yahoo.net/haphackeylit1.html although their picture is small, so hard to make out the keys.

Someone at the office got some of the Ubuntu stickers recently and was wondering what the little ones were for, I'll have to mention using them to cover the key logo.

I bet most people who can use 8.04 also know where it came from.

I looked at my mini9 and it has a Windows key. Though, I really don't pay attention enough to care. My IBM Model M does not have a mod key of any type, and it is by far THE BEST keyboard ever made. Mod Keys are over rated.

Close- the model M is the keyboard that the best keyboard ever was modded from-

Model M also double as handy home defence weapons, they are like a brick! LOL

I guess it's a nice looking keyboard, though not too practical. Those old typewriter keys would cause me to type much slower. Also his choice of materials will just make the keyboard look dirty and put you through more tedious processes to clean it.

Being built like a brick is one reason why my Model M has been around 20 years and will be around another 20.
