not compatible with signal 9.10

I installed the new ubuntu (9.10) and everything went fine until i restarted
i saw a silver ubuntu symbol and pressed enter
and then my tv (monitor)
just said "Not compatible with this signal" out of nowhere
so now im writing this on my phone to figure it out
ive checked some other forums
i do have a sharp tv but the other stuff from google talked about buttons that dont exist on my tv
