Hi everyone,
First post here, but have been helped here by a few good searches.
I'm using 9.10, and I was wondering how you can startup a program with a gui on a specific location eg:
the command to start blender on command line is "blender", what do I have to add to have it started on the 2nd workspace 800 wide and 600 high?
Many thanks in advance,
Doin.

i think you have to write a script for this.

I figured as much, however, I am not really experienced in scripting, so any help would be greatly appreciated(links to good script-tutorials covering basics and gnome(?)-manipulation would suffice.
thanks again.

I am sorta interested in the same thing just not sure how to do it. I have set up thunderbird to start as I log in under System -> Preferences -> Startup Applications.
It starts up but I would like to see it on the second workspace.
EDIT:
Just found this http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1075301.html (http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1075301.html).
Haven't tried it yet, but it looks promising.

If you use compiz (desktop effects): http://http://wiki.compiz.org/Plugins/Place
If not, then: community/Devilspie

Thanks, I ended up using devilspie as the compiz wasn't fast enough to load for the start up apps.
