Hey guys, I am slightly new to ESX thing. I have been using vmware for the longest time for various reasons, but slim to none experience with ESX.

Now, my scenario:

I have 2-3 production systems operating from VMWare Server. So far, so good. Now my organization has ESX and we are virtualizing like there is no tomorrow; obviously, the virtual servers will end up there, is only logical. In order to acquire the Server instances into ESX there is a converter tool (so i read) and my question is:

Given the above scenario, if I go ahead and import the wmx/wmdk/etc, what changes occur to the installed system within those files? Will there any changes made to my original files? If something goes wrong, can I just fire up the vmware server and take it from there? I will take back-ups before the whole transfer but I just want to know what to back-up, *everything* or just stored data (the usual stuff).

Has anyone did something like this ? It can't be just me :)

TIA
