I'm wondering if there are any alternatives to the standard system dialogs for opening/saving files? And whether there's a way to replace those without replacing all of Ubuntu?

Any help in any amount would be appreciated.

Umm... what do you suppose to replace them _with_?

Well, that's part of what I'm asking. I want the same functionality, obviously - I still need to be able to open and save files. I was just wondering if there exist the same dialogs, but with different designs. Perhaps designs more similar to Win XP, or maybe KDE.

Actually,I'm not sure if they have the same dialogs in KDE or not - what part of Ubuntu do these dialogs belong to, anyway? Is it Gnome? Nautilus? X? Something else?
