Hello,
I have installed CompizConfig Settings Manager but i can't get any of the desktop effects to work at all. I have tried this on two different computers and I could not get desktop effects to work on either one.
Also, when I go to System > Preferences > Appearance > Visual Effects, none of them work either. A gray box just comes up that says "Desktop effects could not be enabled."
Any help with this situation would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Have you got extra/proprietary drivers installed?
Go to System --> Administration --> Hardware Drivers for your system to check what drivers you might need. Install them, reboot and try again.

When i go there, it says that i do not have any proprietary drivers in use on my system. but, there aren't any drivers on the list for me to install. it's just blank.

You have to install the drivers yourself from either the video card's website (ati.com, etc.) or from the Ubuntu Restricted Extras repositories, and there may be another repository or two also where you can get it from if either of those don't work.
