Hey guys,

I'm addicted to iTunes! Is there a way for me to listen to the songs I purchase in Ubuntu? It's a pain to have to boot into Windows just to listen to music.

I tried running iTunes through Crossover Office, but the performance is even worse then in Windows. It sucks.

It is called GTKpod. I refuse to own a iPod so I can not tell you how well it actually works.

If you're buying in AAC format, you'll probably have to strip out the DRM and convert to MP3. I can't help you with that, because I use my iPod by buying CDs, ripping them, and then putting the resulting files on my iPod.

if you are running iTunes 6+ then the only way to hear your music natively in Ubuntu (or any Linux) is to first burn the songs to a music cd and then rip the cd. (Purchased songs are in the special locked m4p format.)

You can also use vmware to have a working windows XP 'window' inside of Ubuntu that will also run iTunes 6+.

hymn only works on iTunes versions less than 6 (for now.)

allofmp3.com is a much better non-DRM music store IMO.

sharpmusique?

Is a handy little tool if you simply want to purchase music off of iTunes but not play it, as it does not contain codecs nor a player to play the special locked format.

Although dedrms and fairkeys don't seem to be available for download anymore, you can probably find them somewhere.
