Are j00 getting the Verichip?

The VeriChip is first FDA-approved human-implantable RFID microchip. VeriChip received United States Food and Drug Administration approval in October 2004. About twice the size of a grain of rice, the device is typically implanted above the triceps area of an individual’s right arm. Once scanned at the proper frequency, the VeriChip responds with a unique 16-digit number which can correlate the user to information stored on a database for identity verification, medical records access and other uses. The insertion procedure is performed under local anesthetic and once inserted, is invisible to the naked eye. The process can be performed in a physician’s office and takes only a few seconds.

While some Christian leaders have come out against the device, speculating that it might be the Mark of the Beast, health experts including Former Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy Thompson, who sits on the board of directors of VeriChip’s parent company Applied Digital, support the VeriChip as a useful tool in sharing medical information with health care providers in emergency situations.

I'm not getting it. The Verichip network can probally be hacked, and I'm not taking any chances. [-(

Yah, not only that, but it essentially seals our role as human cattle (Remember it was necessary to number and track all the Jews during the World War II Holocaust, a role which IBM eagerly took part in with their new punch card system.) and violates our rights to our own bodies should such a thing ever become mandatory.

That it is the mark of the beast is at best opinion and speculation. I see it as a privacy/civil liberties issue. I will never get one for the same reason I will not own GPS or Onstar. I fear the ability of the Government or corporations the ability to track me wherever I go or for anyone with a reader to be able to identify me without my permission. It is no ones business who I am or where I am going unless I decide to make it their business.

That will no doubt be mandatory in some countries sooner or later. Replace money with bank accounts tied to the chips and then there will be no more robberies for cash. Replace keys with security codes the chips send out and there will be no more lock picking houses or hotwiring cars. With a sattelite transmitter the police can see exactly who was at the scene of a crime and where they are hiding to caputure them in no time. Add a microphone that sends a live feed to a voice-to-text program coupled with a text search engine and the police can caputre criminals as soon as they even start talking about committing a crime. Add a small remote controlled tranquilizer capsule and the actual arrest will be a piece of cake.

I'll just move somewhere else if the first phases of that is ever implemented where I live. It's the people that should control the government and know everything the government does, not the other way around.

Biblical mark of the beast or not, it's the mark of the ever watching big brother beast.

It is if you have a social security number.

This is all moot anyways. If you have not been sealed by God through faith in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, you already belong to Satan. He does not need a mark to "own" you. He owns you by virtue of your rebellion against God.

I think that it would be easier to rob people then, if banks would rely on this chip. What's to stop me from hitting someone over the head, performing a surgical procedure in the alley with a pocketknife to take out their chip, then tape it on my shoulder, and going down to the nearest ATM? ;)

In any event, I'll move to the sticks and become a hermit if Australia loses its mind and this becomes mandatory.

The chip could be equipped with a censor that detects if it is taken out or a dna reader to verify which person it is in once that technology becomes small enough.

Evidently you have not read Jude which warns against speaking evil against dignitaries, including Satan.

Jude 5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.
6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.

Foolishness has nothing to do with intelligence. Hitler was a fool to attack Russia but he did do so in a fairly intelligent manner. Foolishness deals with morals or the lack thereof.

Hmm. What's all this about the Mark of the Beast? Read Revelation... there are sort of a few things that need to happen before we get to the Mark of the Beast... like a bunch of Christians disappearing, a lot of wars and a lot of famine, both so bad as to significantly reduce world population levels, and a plague of horrible flying scorpion monsters. And those are just a few examples.

If you decide to interpret Biblical lore literally, you can't selectively interpret events out of context.

But no, I will not get a VeriChip. Sounds spooky to me.

So did Osiris, and that myth predates that of Jesus of Nazareth by at least a thousand years. Just about every culture on earth has a myth about a god that was murdered and rose from the dead.

Christianity is the most perscuted religion in the history of the world and yet still it thrives and grows.

There's no accounting for taste, especially poor taste.

You cannot ignore it.

It'd be easier to ignore if you Christians actually lived by Jesus' words instead of trying to legislate Leviticus.

It condems sin and offers forgiveness for sinners.

Yeah, all you gotta do is say "Forgive me, I believe." I bet it's a lot easier than actually taking responsibility for the wrongs one has done and setting out to right them.

I did not say we needed satan's help. We=humans.

However he sure did play part in getting Eve to eat that fruit didn't he.

"What exactly is that supposed to prove? Frankly, if I had it my way, there wouldn't be any rapists or muggers in jail, because those they prey on would be praised for blowing such filth off the streets instead of branded criminals themselves."

It proves God's indictment agains mankind:

Romans 3:10-18 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 And the way of peace have they not known:
18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.

Funny that animals don't fall under this condemnation. So with all our reasoning capabilities, we still act worse than animals.

Sorry, darling, I know better than to think that scientific knowledge is fixed and unchangable. I don't make of science a religion. If I wanted false certainty, I would still be a Christian. I committed apostasy for a reason, after all: God created man, but man created religion.

God is what Big Brother wants to be, an unassailable tyrant of absolute power that mortals cannot hope to oppose.

So did Osiris, and that myth predates that of Jesus of Nazareth by at least a thousand years. Just about every culture on earth has a myth about a god that was murdered and rose from the dead.

Hmmnn, I don't see any Osiris worshippers around today.

The Old Testament which spans about 1500 years, foretold the death of Christ and the resurrection of Jesus Christ happened over 2000 years ago which in my math has "outlasted" the osiris myth.

It'd be easier to ignore if you Christians actually lived by Jesus' words instead of trying to legislate Leviticus.

I actually agree with you here. I do believe in the death penalty but I do not want to see the Old Testament system legislated. The death penalty actually predates the mosiac system. I am not for the Religious right.

Yeah, all you gotta do is say "Forgive me, I believe." I bet it's a lot easier than actually taking responsibility for the wrongs one has done and setting out to right them.

Forgive me, I believe is NOT Christianity. Repentance and faith is Christianity. Zaccheus, after he said he believed, told Jesus he would pay back 4 times the amount to those he ripped off. In response to Zacchaeus' statement, Christ said salvation has come to his house. I do not espouse "easy believism".

And I bet you never took to heart the passage where Jesus says, "Judge not, lest ye be judged."

I guess you never took to hear the passage where Jesus says: "John 7:24 " Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. "

The standard I am using to judge is the Word of God.

Christianity is the most perscuted religion in the history of the world and yet still it thrives and grows.

Isnt jewish (or whatever its called) the most persecuted religon? You know, with the whole holocaust thing.

It is if you have a social security number.

This is all moot anyways. If you have not been sealed by God through faith in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, you already belong to Satan. He does not need a mark to "own" you. He owns you by virtue of your rebellion against God.

Brian Evidence? Wanna prove to me that:
A) God exists as put forth in the Bible and subsequent theological decisions and interpretations of the Bible as put forth by the Church

B) Satan exists as put forth in the Bible and subsequent theological decisions and interpretations of the Bible as put forth by the Church

C) Satan owns anyone who isn't Christian

D) That by not accepting on faith what must be inherently unprovable, skeptics/atheists/Non-Christians are rebelling against the Christian God

Because if you don't give me studies, experiments, etc, I won't accept what you say. If all the above is true, it should be scientifically verifiable. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt here and assuming that since you speak with such conviction, you obviously have some information that I don't have.

Being an apostate, I find that there's a right way to proselytize and a wrong way. It's one thing to ask, "Have you heard about Jesus?" and then stop when somebody says, "I'm not interested," or "I've heard, but I don't believe." You'll arouse less anger with a soft approach than by dumping a bucket of fire and brimstone on somebody's head.

Yah, not only that, but it essentially seals our role as human cattle (Remember it was necessary to number and track all the Jews during the World War II Holocaust, a role which IBM eagerly took part in with their new punch card system.) and violates our rights to our own bodies should such a thing ever become mandatory.

Meh... just being a nit-pick.

Replace keys with security codes the chips send out and there will be no more lock picking houses or hotwiring cars.
Yes there will :) . Only this time, it will be a guy with a small radio transmitter trying a bunch of codes until he gets the thing to unlock/start.

Also, if you want to get into a house, then there's always a sledge-hammer. And you'll still need to hot-wire a car in order to get it started. Just because you change the manner in which one starts a car, doesn't mean that the mechanical way that a car starts won't need an electrical spark/signal.

This can have benefits as well, such as better communication... but it depends on how far this will go.

Biblical mark of the beast or not, it's the mark of the ever watching big brother beast.
Major companies have been doing this for years, the only difference now is that the government will have access to this info.

There's already the UN Charter of Human Rights, but frankly, it's not good enough. What's needed is something like ISO that sets out basic standards for what governments may and may not do -- with an enforcement arm sworn to defend liberty with both persuasion and force.

Lacking that -- who's up for armed revolution? I can't do much by myself with just a sledgehammer, you know.

Wouldn't doubt about the gays. Castro has sent countless gays for being gay to Cuba's own gulag system. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_rights_in_Cuba#Homosexuality)

Mein Kampf

1922 speech
It all boiled down to whether christians toed the party line. There were those that backed the Nazi regime or looked the other way while knowing that Hitler was committing attrocities. There were those christians that would resist him and paid for that.

Since most of those that Hitler wanted to get on his side were christian, he pretended to be a christian in order to make himself more appealable.

I would not get the Verichip even if you paid me to do it. It may be the Mark of the Beast, it may not be. All I know is that no government is going to require me to get a microchip to keep track of me. That is an invasion of my constitutional rights...
Technically... it's not, atleast it won't be based on how it is implemented. That and based on how our government acted in the past, I wouldn't be surprised if they cut corners.

Ok, back to the chip :) . Imo, it depends on what it will be used for. If it's completely voluntary and I can choose what information I want it to store, I'd use it. I think it's a great idea if I can store my private health data on it in order to make it easier for a physician to find out if I have any allergies to medicines in an emergency... that's about it though.

Recently the Castro regime has been forced to become less mean. After the USSR collapsed the money dried up and they were forced to open their economy to the dollar in order to survive.

They allowed Jews to have Rabbis visit and import kosher food. Also, Christians now can have priests visit them (the Pope was there.) Plus gays and lesbians are no longer persecuted (as much) by him...

But that hardly begins to wash away the massmurder that his regime committed (as is shown in the link.)

So the next crimewave: hands being hacked off so the nmuggers can visit the ATM !
The post mentioning hot wiring cars intrigued me. Since the advent of systems in the car that recognise that the key is not present and immobilise the car more and more people are being 'car-jacked' , or their houses broken into for the car keys. New technology, new methods ! Same with ID cards to cut down fraud; once they become the norm they will become the target for crims, and probably find it easier to use once society has accepted the card as 'Proof' of ID.
What a waste of public money! The future I read about years ago in Sci-fi books is here, the future where there is no 'cash' only credits and ID, and if you upset someone in power, you lost your credits, and ultimately your ID, very Kafka-esque...

"When they're catching the bird, they sing nice to him" as Czech proverb says. You don't need to have the chip or you can have it removed. But that's the beginning. Sooner or later people will let themselves chipped voluntarily and they'll even pay hefty price for it - phone chips, direct interface with computer (primitive form of this is already implanted to some guinea pigs quadruplegics, I heard) or simply computer in your head, whatever. At some point there will be so many "marked by the Beast" that just minority will care when companies start to demand chip for new employees and finally the "clean ones" will be treated as some kind of Jehova witnesses weirdos cause to the new generation of youngsters (chipped as newborns or very young) this will be natural thing and which generation of youngsters ever cared for those funny old lamers? Summary? We're doomed guys, either we die soon enough (this is long term process and might be even ceased by some civilization breakdown) or we should start choosing between some pleasant island for careless life and Iceland for poets who need suffering as inspiration (yeah, I like Brave New World too).

Btw. I had finally time to read this thread completely - does anybody of you know bcarpenter's dealer? Must have some great stuff. I pity Brian when he gets sober and read it after himself.
