I am using an Acer 5050 laptop and 3 days ago my computer crashed. Now it's suddenly not reading any CD/DVD and i am not able to boot it.
I prepared a USB Flash Stick from another Ubuntu 9.04 Sony Vaio laptop and tried to install it in my Acer laptop.
The issue is, that i dont get any splash screen or menu to install Ubuntu with it. It boots and go through a few tests.. the Ubuntu logo glows and it comes to the Live Session mode.
I can use the Live Session mode with all the apps and config.
But when i try to install Ubuntu in Live Session mode, it goes fine until the keyboard layout selection step but when it checks the disks, it goes quickly to 47% than after a long time it reaches 70% and after stucking on that for a long time it 'quits unexpectedly'... though the systems keep running fine and i can use the Live Session Mode.
Another thing is, i have 3 partitions in my HDD, C/D/E, each is of 40GB.
I am able to view D & E but am not able to open or mount them.
C is the one which contains my MS Windows XP in it and i want C to instal Ubuntu in it.
Also sometimes, even the Live Session doesnt start and i have to boot the laptop again.](*,)

Please Help !!!
