Hi,

I was wondering how the GTX260's power consumption was under linux. I know this card clocks back to save power when your just setting at the desktop and I was wondering if that works with the linux drivers, or if it's completely hardware controlled and doesn't matter about drivers?

I was also wondering how the power consumption was between the GTX 260 and the GTS 250 when they're both idling (just internet browsing and stuff like that). I know that the GTX260 is going to pull significantly more power when I'm running it hard, but I don't really care then because I want the extra performance!

Thanks,
Andy

Powersaving works if you use Nvidia's driver. You can monitor it in the Nvidia X server control panel. See the attachment.

Thanks, I'm glad to see that linux supports the down-clocking as well!

Does anybody have any opinions on the power consumption difference between the the GTX260 and GTS250 at idle. I know that the GTS250 is a much less power hungry GPU, but the GTX260 everybody says is extremely good at clocking back when it's not in use which makes me wonder if at idle it might actually be more efficient!

Thanks

Thanks that link definitely shows a lot! I assume that most should be fairly consistent with this as that site shows almost exactly what I was expecting.
