How often do you change your avatar?

I changed my avatar today for I think the 3rd time in a month. Which got me thinking: am I abnormally indecisive over this? Or is it normal to change it as the mood takes me?

So, how often do you change your avatar?

Well, I think I've used them on this site. Some might have been used on other forums. There have been other avatars too, but my memory is failing me.

Why don't y'all post some of your previous avatars?

I change it whenever I get bored of the current one. Some last longer than others. I used a Haruhi Suzumiya avatar for a year, and a Konata avatar for a while too. There's a few other short lived ones as well. I can't post any of my previous avatars because they're on my home computer.

Other than the change from my initial Avatar to my current one i`ve never changed it.Came close a couple of times but....just couldn`t bring myself to do it for some reason.I`ve changed the theme at Halloween and suchlike but thats about it.

I most commonly used my Qui-gon Jin avatar. I am really getting into Gnome after years of KDE, so I am showing my appreciation at the moment. I will go back to Mononoke Hime or Qui-gon sometime. It is easy to be recognized at a glance if you keep the same avatar.

I remember the one day where all the admins switched avatars, it was mildly mind boggling. I thought.. "Wait did I message the right person?"

RiceMonster totally threw me off for a few days when he changed his (I think you're a dude...sorry if not). Took me almost a week to realize that was him posting. :-)

That's what I used to think. And I suppose it's important to some people to be recognisable. Not me though. Well, not here anyway.

It's funny, I haven't changed my hairstyle in over 15 years.

Here are some:

I crop and edit them in GIMP, then resize to around 90x90. I prefer the lossless PNG format, it seems to work much better than GIF.

On topic, this is only my second avatar here. My old one was a scan of a pattern I cut out of a piece of TP when I was... backlogged.

I stop using an avatar when I see someone else with the exact same one. Obviously there are a ton of tux avatars here. Eventually I just googled "wolf avatar" for this current one.

well... every so often. I was kinda thinkin I needed a new one soon, since tsubasa chronicles is complete and xxxHolic will be ending soon (I assume).
