Minicom 2.3 on ubuntu 9.04 seems to be buggy..

Folks,
i installed ubuntu 9.04 on my machine and downloaded minicom 2.3 package.
one weired observation when i ran Minicom was, it started blinking.....
all the settings were fine but still it keeps blinking...

any hints...
