Our State needs a contact listed on Ubuntu Big List
Let us please decide who to put on the list as a state contact
(and in the interim I nominate myself of course to be replaced by whomever is nominated)

What "when and where" are you referring to? Perhaps the 5th of December?
Actually I am reffering to any meeting, that one if need be, but also the planned UDS one. It's all of the same importance.

I am definitely willing to participate, but don't think I would qualify to "lead" the team at this point, also going through the whole job search and keeping up with the kiddos situation, but please keep me in mind if I can contribute in some way.

We people are having meetings in a lot of places. First at UDS (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UDSLucid), then catco is having a meeting in Arlington. The Austin meeting is an Austin regional meeting, though anyone can come (It's primarily an IRC meeting, net based).

try and keep it in the thread about the uds meeting, this doesn't need to be everywhere.

???
Why are we trying to keep it a secret?

We're not, we're simply placing it in it's Designated space. This thread is about "Team Contact for BIG List", other than saying we may discuss it at the uds meeting (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8339571&postcount=6) , the meeting has nothing else to do with this topic.

I did not know that any meting needed to be put on a particular channel.
This is a forum.
The meeting for UDS may seem a foreign topic to some.
It is not about keeping it to ourselves.
I believe that has been one of the major issues of the past.
Meeting info was not passed on popular channels so in the
end how would someone have a clue.
Please let us disseminate information were others might look.
Just like what is shared in IRC
It is often not brought to the forums.

This is a forum that an average user might read so I feel that the average user might want to step up and take part in whichever form or fashion possible.

Plus I see that you brought the UDS discussion in the reply already
Let us not bicker about trivial items.
Let us all work together at bringing the state together.
As stated someone would have to know what UDS is and many may or may not
be subscribed to the mailing list which has not been very active.
A Texas Contact should be decided openly.
And cross posting or tweets or whichever way the word gets to the user is the right way.
Not everyone who uses Ubuntu has an IRC account or a Launchpad account.

I think the point that was being made about keeping it in the UDS meeting thread is that by posting it here, it's fragmenting the discussion, which is what we're working towards avoiding. If you feel strongly that cross posting in threads is necessary, please consider just posting the link to the thread that's discussing it (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1329314). That's just my thought on it, though :-)

Thanks I will try to get the word out in other areas.
I let the other post know this. But you are correct I will give reference in the future.

Don't think I can make it on a Thursday afternoon, but I'd love to attend a get together sometime!

If you haven't already read it, then you probably want to visit this thread - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1330404.
Also, you're not far from me (live in Robert Lee, work in Winters). I'll message you about some other things (one is about an event happening in Abilene next year)
