I have just installed Karmic as main OS on my dektop and laptop along with WIN7 and XPSP3 which I intend to run in Virtual Box.
In the Gnome desktop, when I de-select Mirror Screens to use the extended desktop, handy for Autocad and the like, all I see are black screens- no wallpaper. Nor is it configurable.
Extended desktop works fine in all flavours of Windows since 2000 and in Jaunty and SUSE 11.1 too.
Anyone had experience of this? Is there a fix?
Be pleased to hear any comments.
Ubuntu 9.10 GNOME ATI Radeon RV280 (Radeon 9200) Dual Head Card, IGb of Sisten RAM, 128 on the Vcard. Rendering method AIGLX. 2 No. LG L1510S Flat Screen LCD´s connected.
Ran Compiz compatability check and OK on all 5 points.

I had the same problem.. i have ati radeon 4800. When I went to dual monitors (not mirrored) it gave me an error and said i had to install the restriced drivers.. i said ok.. it installed them and said Ihad to reboot... once i did that it is fine..but when the screen saver comes on one monitor gets buggy.. there is a program called envy that installs the drivers much better i think.. i am going to try that.
