Hi guys,

I have a Windows XP running on my Intel Celeron 1.7Ghz machine with 512 MB RAM and 40 GB HDD with 4 partitions of 10 GB each.

I am new to Linux and wanted to try it using a LIVE CD. But, by mistake I downloaded
an alternate CD, I went ahead and tried to install Ubuntu 9.10 yesterday.

I got the Karmic-alternate-i386.iso image bunt into a CD and tried to boot Ubuntu.
After passing thru' the language and keyboard detect steps, I got the following error.

----------------------------------------------------------

Load Installer Components from CD

There was a problem reading data from the CD-ROM. Please make sure it is in the drive. If retrying does not work, you should check the integrity of your CD ROM.
Failed to copy file from CD ROM.

Retry?

YES / NO.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Please let me know what does this error mean. Is there an issue with the CD-ROM
or the image I burnt OR the ISO file I downloaded and is there a fix for the issue?

Please help me, I am curious to see how Ubuntu 9.10 desktop looks.........

Thanks a lot.

Cheers,
Subbu.
