I was wondering if anyone has a good, simple alternative to Audacity? After Audacity v. 1.2.6 I've had nothing but trouble simply trying to record my vinyl and tapes to digital format with Audacity 1.3.9 BETA. Has anything been fixed with the current release (9.10) of Ubuntu? The earlier stable versions of Audacity simply cannot be forced into 8.10 and later. The hardware preferences of Ubuntu and Audacity no longer seem to match. I'm admittedly not all that saavy (or for that matter eager) to jump through endless hoops to get Audacity and Ubuntu to make nice with each other. Sorry to be vague but I get the feeling I share the sentiment with a whole lot of other frustrated users for which it (Audacity/Ubuntu) once worked simply and flawlessly and now simply doesn't.
