Error installing from a USB on Latitude 2100

I am trying to install ubuntu netbook remix from a 8gb Sandisk Cruzer and am getting this message: Can not mount /dev/loop1 on /cow

Any idea what this means?

Using a Dell Latitude 2100.

Ran an integrity check on the media, and it came out fine.

I'm getting the same error on an EEEPC 701 with a 2GB Sandisk USB stick. I use the Windows usb-creator to create the stick.
