In 9.04 Network Manager doesn't handle this modem (successfully), but I was able to get it working using pharscape.org's tools. In 9.10 it's a different story. Bare metal installs on a 3 year old Toshiba laptop (Ubuntu) and 1 year old EeePC 900A (UNR). In both cases simply inserting the modem into a usb port triggers a system freeze that requires cycling the power to recover. Obviously, until this is resolved I have to stay with 9.04.
