Well anyways I was messing around like usual with Ubuntu 9.10, When all of the sudden I got the idea to run KDE and GNOME together, and the results turned out well, kinda good, kinda bad. Well, I logged into GNOME and moved the bottom panel to the top. Then I ran the following command using a file: (So I don't get bugged with a terminal window)

exec startkdeAnd after that, the KDE start menu and desktop started and I saw GNOME and KDE combined. I attached a thumbnail. Oh and if you want to start GNOME from KDE, the command is:

gnome-sessionI just decided to post this because its a pretty cool experiment.

Just when you thought there wasn't enough bloat in Ubuntu...

qtcurve-gtk (or, whatever it is) would help, as well.

Awesome! I use to run the gnome panel in kde by typing gnome-panel in a terminal, but I would be stuck with the stupid terminal and could not close it out. Thanks for the fix niccholaspage. :)

An easier way to run something without a terminal is just hitting alt + F2 and typing the command there. If you need it run as root, use gksudo, or whatever the KDE one is (ksudo?).

That way it'll run and you don't need a terminal.

The real perfect mix is xfce with compiz:
Resource maximized to performance with a really good reason: eyecandy :KS (with windget and cairo-dock) :KS:KS
