I've been going nuts trying to install linux on my ps3 with firmware 3.01. I follow the instructions (http://psubuntu.com/wiki/InstallationInstructions) but when I get to the kboot screen and hit return the screen goes blank and the system seems to hang.

The internets are full of advice, which I have tried. I've made sure to use the "alternate-powerpc+ps3.iso" variants. I've tried giving kboot "expert video=ps3fb:mode:X" with "X" being a variety of formats and that doesn't work. I've tried switching the video between component and HDMI, no luck there either.

For the record here are the MD5s of the various ISOs I've tried using. If anyone has any idea how I can install any version of ubuntu please let me know.
