can't get installed

newby I'll try to be clear
be patient
i'm not getting installed as planned
download was to g5 imac for an acer laptop that will not boot
i figure the ubuntu doesn't care if the the download is a mac and the recipient laptop is pc but am i wrong? or is it the fact that the acer won't boot w/ the old system in the first place:o

If you burn the iso on CD and try to boot with it it shouldn't matter that it was downloaded on G5. I assume G5 also does bootable CDs from bootable images.

PS. What exactly is happening when you try to boot with the ubuntu cd?
