i'm newbie at ubuntu...

my notebook has ATI RADEON HD 3450....

i need to install its driver with ati catalyst...

i'm using ubuntu 9.10 the karmic coala....

each time i want to install ati catalyst i got this message...


Could not open the file /home/sado0og/Downloads/…aller-9-10-x86.x86_64.run.

gedit has not been able to detect the character coding.
Please check that you are not trying to open a binary file.
Select a character coding from the menu and try again. what should i do ??

as i said i'm newbie

I can't help if you need this driver specifically but there is one package used for drivers called EnvyNG.
You can install it trough Software Center or with apt-get. After that it will be under Applications, don't remember which group exactly.
It helped me a lot with a driver for my HD3200.
