Hi,

I'm hoping this is the right forum to post in.

I'm looking for a new mobile and there are some nice looking Android devices out there.

I've searched around and found two ways to sync such a device. One is using google calendar und contacts to get everything synced between PC and Mobile.
Or I could setup a funanbol-server on the PC to get calendar and contacts on the mobile.

What I'm missing is the possibility to sync the mobile over a direct USB-Connection.

Does anybody know if there is such a solution or if it's planned?

Android phones sync themselves automatically. It all gets synced to your Google accounts (calendar, contacts, email, etc) so as long as you're using apps on your Ubuntu machine that sync with Google then you're sorted.

There's no such thing as syncing over USB, because the phone syncs with the Google servers, not your computer.

That's the point. I don't want to use google.
