Morons have a right to use Ubuntu, too.

Besides, from a quick look at her videos, she's posting some useful stuff for new users. Just because it's not at your level of knowledge, doesn't mean it's not at the right level for someone else. Calling someone a moron because they lack a piece of specific knowledge doesn't really do you a lot of credit, in my eyes.

she acts like a moron, not in the specific sense that she's intellectually inferior. black/white much?

if the video in the first post is representation of the kind of obnoxious videos she produces, then i stand fast. if you're going to post a link to nominate someone for something, you'd be best off picking one of the better videos. (for those that are about to cry "look at her other vids")

She's probably the perfect person to make Ubuntu appealing and accessible to younger people, who coming from Windows, might be put off by command lines and other more technical stuff.

To say she acts like a moron is really unfair. There are many people out there who can probably relate to her. I've watched a lot of her videos on You Tube and off all the tutorials on there hers are by far the most informative and easiest to follow for someone using Ubuntu for the first time.

I haven't read all of this thread so perhaps the following has already been pointed out:

NixiePixel likes porn.

She has links to it, reviews it & states that she likes it, which is fine by me, though I expect that now we have landed in the world of business & its' kind of politics, that there is no way out for her, she will not be selected as the Ubuntu official anything...

Bummer really, I have looked at some of her tutorial vid's & I think she does a perfectly acceptable, even great, job of it.

From a marketing standpoint, anybody who has a strong opinion toward a controversial subject is risky to be a public model. She likes porn, some people heavily despise porn. Same goes for somebody who publicly announces they are athiest, homosexual, etc.

Basically, based on that, she would never be considered.

Anyone that puts themselves in the public light needs to be able to handle criticism, especially if they want to be a spokesperson.

I don't know why some people are so negative towards her. Of course spokesman maybe is overstatement. But still!! She is making a contribution to the Linux, making those videos (which I think is great). And I think we need more people doing things like that. Uploading different screencasts, tutorials online, spreading the word about Linux, Opensource.. etc). And this can really help bring more people to try Linux. And for this, those videos doesn't have to over-the-head technical (at least not all).

Plus I really find it hot when girl is into Linux and all that. Its very very rare.

As much as it hurts me to say this. I have come to notice over the past 4 years this forum has dropped in quality post to at times reached the equivalent of idiocracy that you would commonly find on a very teen over-run forum such as world of warcraft forums.

The bright side of that, it comes to show that any kid can install Linux these days. So if it is Canonicals mission to bring over windows users, it does appear its working.

Nixie I have seen from your videos that you are not one of these half wits that thinks they are kewl just because they run something other then windows. You are indeed very intelligent and depending how much you already know or wish to know it may be time to further your knowledge of GNU/Linux. Clearly up to you of course. But the Debian forums would prob show you a little more respect.

Honestly, I had not seen any of Nixie's video's or blog posts before but after viewing some and reading her blog articles on Ubuntu, I came to the conclusion that this gal has her s*** wired tight.

Anyone who posts on public forums, blogs and posts videos about Linux and or Ubuntu is a "Unofficial Spokesperson" whether anyone likes it or not.

Most of us have been ticked off at some of the negative press and articles that have been posted about Ubuntu on the interweb. Now here is a person who posts positive, informative and intelligent information about Ubuntu in a public manner that most of us never have or will..and she gets flamed and dissed in general in this thread..WTF??

I think it's flame baiting to recommend someone that isn't offering to a company that isn't hiring.

for really what could go wrong? you have positive responses, then follows negative ones, there's rebuttal then it gets personal. such discussion cycle isn't estrange to public forums.

The OP is somewhat given to hyperbole, I wouldn't take the thread title too literally.

There are so many unfounded and personal attacks on another Ubuntu user who has done nothing but be a person.

seriously this is the worse thread i've ever seen on Ubuntu forums.

This threads topic is offensive to every other women who has contributed more to Ubuntu

This thread content is offensive to Nixie Pixel with people criticizing her in a way they themselves wouldn't like to be criticized.

There's a few people on here who should remember what Ubuntu means, i.e. humanity to others.

Yeah, I suppose is can simply say "she's hot" and stop.

But I really think she would a great image for "normal people that like use linux"... putting out the general idea that "normal people" stand for "stupid".

She have a soft voice, nice clean look, and really smart talk... with some very short conk out: perfect.

Perfect as character for Ubuntu, but really don't know as person (You can't never realize what's really a person from video, isn't? It wouldn't be fair)... so, there's no point with people argue about on her as person.

I think that's quite enough - the thread seems to have degenerated into people just abusing a member of the community. IF Nixie wants the thread reopening - I'll be happy to oblige.
