View Full Version : Mythbuntu new install video choppy

November 13th, 2009, 10:55 AM
I just setup my machine with 9.04. It is a P4 1.6 hz, 256 mb, ATI AIW rage 128 pro 32mb, Hauppage pvr-500

The system is working but the live tv and the recordings are choppy. I was told I should check the drivers. I am not using the AIW for capture just as a video card. I didn't have to install any drivers when i installed the mythbuntu. I have seen the gatos ati.2 drivers that i think should help but I am lost on how to install them. .

I know that the AIW is not recommend for myth. I just don't have the cash for an upgrade. I think ram could help this system as well. I guess I would like know if this gatos driver will help? If so how do I install it. The gatos instructions are for someone who is more familiar with linux. Is the choppy video a lack of a good driver or ram or?
I have used a pvr-150 in a windows machine with GB-pvr with great success. I know the pvr-500 should not be give choppy video.

Thanks for help in this issue.
