I have a Kubuntu 9.10 system running on a Shuttle box talking to my Sony HDTV via the VGA port.
If I boot the live DVD, it works with the full 1920x1080 resolution - obviously it recognizes my TV and extracts information from it.
However when I install 9.10 on my hard disk, I seem to get a more junior system (I may be jumping to conclusions) because it just defaults to 1280x1024 and there is no option to reconfigure the resolution above that, only to lesser values.
I have been Googling around but can't seem to get a handle on why the two systems are different, or what I would have to do to figure out where the problem lies.
