since the split with gnome do, i'm having a hard time finding docky to install. assistance would be most appreciated.

The last stable build of Gnome-do/Docky is in the repositories as of Karmic.

Try Cairo Dock - less resource usage than AWN, more options.

Or AWN..The latest trunk supports 3D or Curves mode...No themes yet though.

When did docky split with gnome-do?

I did an interview with Docky dev Jason Smith almost a month ago where he talks about the reasons why etc
