Hello,
I'm new to ubuntu, was using FreeBSD for a while, so I'm not entirely new to unix.
Installed 9.04 (?) and upgraded to 9.10. After upgrade at some arbitrary point the system freezes. Only a hard reset gets the computer going again. However, when the system reboots again, I get the ubuntu logo and then a black screen - that's it, no login, no nothing.
First I thought it was a glitch, so I re-installed, re-upgraded and voila - same old thing. This stops being funny. Can anybody tell me how I can get the system going again without too much effort and what might have caused the crash?
I running x86 9.10 on P4 Dell GX260 without any fancy hardware.
Thanks!
